Learning From Failures

What's that old saying about trying and failing? Something about if you
try and fail just try again? Well, I failed in my efforts to blog 5
times a week throughout the month of September, BUT I will not give up
blogging and attempting to blog more often. So hopefully you will all
forgive me, but be glad that my "experiment" led me to the realization
that there are actually people out there who read what we write and we
need to keep writing as often as we can!

We're on the upswing around here. Last week and the beginning of this week seemed to be full of challenges - teething, not sleeping, conjunctivitis (be careful Jen I hope you won't catch it just by reading about it!), bad sinuses and allergies, strep throat, stomach flu (well vomiting anyway) and a few intestinal issues. And those were just MY problems! Just kidding. Seriously though I think it's amazing how our bodies can't handle life and germs when we are seriously sleep deprived. I guess God knew what He was doing when He commanded that we take time to rest!

Part of our stress over the weekend was trying to get our beloved Telma
(our former Portuguese professor) back to Maputo from Brazil. You
wouldn't believe the story if I told you the multiple complications she
had in traveling here. There were SO many problems...wrong bank account numbers, missed delivery of airplane tickets, miscommunication about departure dates and times, a daughter who called 30 minutes before the plane landed to say she wouldn't be at the airport and couldn't provide a place for her mom to sleep, language barriers, broken down buses...the list could go on and on. But thankfully it all resulted in Telma's arrival here in Maputo Monday morning. We are so happy that she is here and know that it will be a blessing to our family to have her living in our home! We pray that our family and our community of friends who know and love Telma will be a blessing to her as well.

Thanks to all of you who have been blessings in our lives! We love you dearly!
