Photos From the Field

This is a picture of the first chicken house that was designed and built under the management of Steve and Rachel Good. It has been a lot of hard work, but very rewarding for so many reasons. They are hoping to duplicate their work thousands of times over throughout all of Mozambique. A shot of the first "batch" of very fat chickens from Chokwe. Each chicken sold for 70,000 metacais which is roughly translated into just under $3.00 per chicken. This is just a bit under what they could be sold for in the city of Maputo. The possibilities are numerous on how the chicken business can be grown! They sold 196 of the 200 total within the first two days at the market! A very exciting time for many.

This photo was taken on the road to Chokwe. It is an unknown young farmer who is caring for a 30 x 30 plot within a farmer's 10,000 hectare farm. He is hand watering his vegetables which will yield enough to feed his family and hopefully sell a very small amount at the market. (sorry the picture is so small we're still learning to "tweak" the photos!)
